We get it.
You went for a hike and saw some beautiful wildflowers. It's garden tour season (see you at the CNPS tour and the Colonial Heights tour!), and you're seeing all the most spectacular blooms around town. Your neighbor's Ceanothus was covered in bumble bees a couple of weeks ago. Now you want those blooms in your garden. Of course you do!! How could you not want to help pollinators and enjoy nature in your garden?
And what's more, there are plant sales!
But friends, timing is everything.
If you've chatted with Matthew about California Native Plants, you've probably heard him say something along the lines of "Wellllll, there are over 7,000 species of plants in California, so it's hard to apply rules to all of them at once." It's true. And, he will also readily tell you that if you see a plant in full bloom, it's generally not the right time to be planting it. Nearly all of the species that are blooming right now will benefit from being planted in the Autumn.
But we run a nursery! And every Spring folks come in and they want to buy all the plants they just saw flowering! So we’re offering an incentive to get folks to delay some gratification for just a few months.
